Data Protection Regulations

As an electronics manufacturing services (EMS) provider for high‑reliability industries including defense, aerospace, medical, automotive, and industrial controls, WELELR handles your data responsibly, securely, and in full compliance with global regulations. We protect customer PCB design files, bill of materials (BOM), assembly instructions, and project‑related information throughout the entire PCBA supply chain — from component sourcing to final testing — by following a robust Data Protection Framework focused on:

  • Certified compliance – We undergo independent third‑party audits and maintain certifications to ISO/IEC 27001:2022 for information security management, with ongoing alignment toward CMMC 2.0 Level 2 for defense‑oriented PCBA projects.
  • Cybersecurity – Built on industry best practices and standards (e.g., NIST, IEC 62443) to ensure your intellectual property, Gerber files, BOM data, and assembly specifications remain safe from unauthorized access or breach.
  • Data privacy – Fully compliant with GDPR and other applicable privacy laws to safeguard personal information, including customer contacts and end‑user data that may be embedded in assembly orders.

Weller Secure: our solution for a protected environment

Weller Secure (also referred to as Weller AssemblyGuard) is our end‑to‑end solution for safeguarding sensitive information in line with domestic and international export control and cybersecurity regulations. This framework is especially critical for defense‑related and high‑IP PCBA projects, where design files, component sourcing data, and assembly traceability must be protected at every stage — including kitting, SMT placement, soldering, inspection, and shipping.

Weller Secure – International / Export Control

  • Complies with EU export control regimes, including the EU Common Military List and EU Dual‑Use Regulation (EU) 2021/821
  • Built to align with NIST SP 800‑171 for controlled unclassified informat
  • Implements secure data transfer protocols (e.g., SFTP, encrypted VPN, secure file portals) for Gerbers, BOMs, and assembly drawings

Weller Secure – USA / EAR & ITAR

  • Aligns with U.S. regulations, including:
    • ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations)
    • EAR (Export Administration Regulations)
  • Protects Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and export‑controlled technical data related to PCB assemblies
  • Complies with NIST SP 800‑171 and supports CMMC Level 2 requirements
  • Enforces secure data transfer protocols, access logging, and physical segregation of ITAR‑related assembly projects within our factories

Data privacy

Weller PCB adheres to stringent data privacy standards, including full GDPR compliance for European customers and relevant local privacy laws for other regions. Because we provide PCB assemblies, our privacy obligations extend beyond PCB manufacturing to include:

  • Component sourcing data (e.g., approved vendor lists, lead‑time information)
  • Assembly process parameters (e.g., reflow profiles, test specifications)
  • Traceability data for components and finished assemblies

Our internal policies cover:

  • Information security management (ISO/IEC 27001)
  • Strict access restrictions based on need‑to‑know for design, procurement, production, and quality teams
  • A robust cybersecurity framework with regular vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and employee training on data protection in a PCBA environment

We ensure compliance with domestic and international laws, protecting individuals’ privacy rights through Data Subject Action Requests (DSAR) and transparent data processing practices. Additionally, our on‑site Factory Management team and proprietary Weller PCB Assembly Specification (including defined acceptance criteria and quality control processes) extend data protection into the physical manufacturing environment — ensuring that customer designs, BOMs, assembly instructions, and order details are never exposed to unauthorized parties, whether in SMT lines, inspection stations, or shipping areas
